Many people find it difficult to imagine how to do a winter maternity photoshoot. I know it’s not even winter yet, but temperatures are almost equivalent. How to show the pregnant belly without freezing in sessions outdoors? A studio session is the only option?
We have two alternatives on how to get around this situation, both without a studio. One is to face the cold of an outdoors session. Gloves, scarves, and caps already give a charm and help a lot to keep the body warm. Thermal clothes (if necessary) and a coat, which can stay open to show that yes, we have a pregnant belly underneath it. Just that and we are ready for the fun.
The other option is to shoot at home. And then I know that a lot of people have resistance with that. Because your home is not as beautiful as you like, because there is always a mess, etc. But I tell you that a good window with natural light, a sofa or a bed and we can do a lot of beautiful things. In this session, for example, they had just moved into the new house, which means boxes still scattered all over the place and a lot to be organized. But when life gives you lemons, make lemonade: we used the room still empty as a scenery, the living room sofa, the beautiful window, and the result is here.
Also, we strolled around Notting Hill, where they live, and took photos of their favourite places. Then he had a mixture of at home and outdoors session, and that’s always a good idea for maternity sessions.
But the truth is that the scenario is what matters the least. When there are connection and love between them, the photos will probably be beautiful! ❤️
And this family is all about love. And the baby that comes there is very lucky because she/he will have everything she/he needs!
Sharon and Fe, thank you for the beautiful and fun day we spent together. I hope these photos help you to remember this wonderful moment you are living. Full of toughness too, but I’m sure it will be worth it. I’m anxious with you for this arrival! ❤️
