Lisa and Michael are an American couple from Texas. They told me that they had hired a photographer on another trip to Europe, and since they liked a lot of the result, they decided to repeat it, this time with a couple photo session in central London. And I’m suspicious saying that, but I think that’s a great idea! That way your best memories are not stock in selfies and photos taken by other tourists (that usually suck). By the way, I have a little tip about this subject, when you ask someone to photograph you: choose who has the best camera around. If you have no idea which one is the best, go for the biggest one 😉.
Anyway, when Lisa and Michael chose to have their couple photo shoot in central London – where there are the Big Ben and the London Eye, I soon warned them about the repairs on the Elisabeth Tower (Big Ben is the bell inside it). It’s planned to go until 2020, so by then one of London’s most iconic symbols is covered in scaffolding. Not beautiful or even recognizable.
I know most of the tourists who decide to have a London photo session are expecting famous landmarks such as Big Ben, London Eye or Tower Bridge. And that makes sense, their holidays are in London, they want it to be obvious that they are in London.
But it’s not just Big Ben (or Elisabeth Tower 🙄) that makes beautiful pictures in that area, there is a lot more there to be explored. London Eye, telephone booths, the beautiful paths at the edge of the Thames and classic metro stations, for example. You can hardly miss the Big Ben (ok, just a little). That’s why we kept the idea of a couple photo shoot in central London.
Where would you choose if you had a photo session? You can also check other locations before deciding:
- St Pauls Cathedral Couple Photo Session
- Tower Bridge Photo session
- Notting Hill and Hyde Park Session or Notting Hill and Holland Park Session
