Fernanda was one of the first people I photographed here in London, in this London photo shoot. We had just moved (almost at the same time), the session was during summer time and we were very thrilled with every little thing. At that time, we had known each other a short time too and I think the London photo session brought us together and helped strengthen our friendship. We had already talked about doing another session and since Fernanda leaves work early on Fridays, it was possible for us to do a Tower Bridge photo session in the snow. We wanted to enjoy the snow since it was snowing in London for almost 5 days in a row. That is not usual and London wasn’t that white for years. As cold as it was to be outside, everything was so beautiful. For me, the snow is a bit magical yet.
But London changes its landscape as the seasons change. And we thought this Tower Bridge photo session deserved another focus. A more wintery version, perhaps more serious or introspective than that whole joy of our summer photo shoot. I think that’s amazing how well-defined seasons have power over our moods and our lives and winter is a period of reflection and internal balance. If you know how to take advantage of this phase, it all results in growth and you can enjoy better the happier seasons to come.
At least, we began the session with this spirit. But then we realized that it was the first time Fernanda had seen that amount of snow, enough to leave the city white and make it possible to play with it. And I thought that such a beautiful first time deserved pictures that showed how much she was excited about it.
Because there’s no complicated moment without at least a good side. Little blessings are present even when we’re in pain. Just as small pains exist in the middle of moments of joy. And all that snow was making her shows a side that could not be hidden. That moment was unique and beautiful. She was almost a child enjoying a new toy. And that’s what we photographed.
At the end of the Tower Bridge photo session in the snow, we still had a special participation: a snowman! And we did a mini couple photo session. Yes, with the snowman! Wasn’t it funny? hahaha. I think you can get an idea of how much we were enjoying it.
But the night fell fast, the cold froze our fingers and we finished the session. The result is here, a mix of seriousness and introspection, with excitement and joy and a little humor. Because nobody is only one thing. When we are very happy, there can always be some little thing that will make us sad. When we are sad, there is always something good to make us a little happy. No moment of life happens without a little pain and joy. They always go together. Happy are the ones who know how to keep them balanced.
